By default, Clarius keeps everything on your device. Cloud sync and backups are optional tools you turn on only if you want them.
Cloud sync (optional)
Turn on cloud sync if you want your budgets and spending to stay in step across more than one device (or with the web Family Portal).
- Open Profile → Connect to Cloud and follow the prompts.
- Once connected, turn on Cloud Sync.
- Use Sync Now any time to push and pull the latest changes; Clarius also syncs automatically in the background and when you reopen the app.
A few things to know:
- Sync is all-or-nothing once enabled — it syncs your data as a whole, not per-category.
- Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest.
- You can leave sync off entirely and Clarius works exactly the same, just on one device.
Backup & restore
Prefer a manual safety net instead of continuous sync? Open Profile → Backup & Restore to save an encrypted backup (AES-256-GCM) that you can restore later — for example, when moving to a new phone.
Keep your backup somewhere safe. Because it’s encrypted for your privacy, it can only be restored with your credentials.
Which should I use?
- Just one device, maximum privacy: leave sync off; take an occasional backup.
- Multiple devices or the Family Portal: turn on cloud sync.
