Terms of Service | Clarius Money

Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully before using Clarius Money. By downloading or using the app, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

Clarius Money is developed and published by Clarius Finance Labs LLC, a Texas limited liability company ("Clarius," "we," "us," or "our").

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Clarius Money (the "App") or our website at clariusmoney.com (the "Site"), you confirm that you are at least 18 years old, or that you are at least 13 years old and have obtained consent from a parent or legal guardian who agrees to these Terms on your behalf.

If you are a parent or guardian setting up a Family plan for a minor, you accept these Terms on behalf of yourself and the minor users in your family account.

2. Description of Service

Clarius Money is a personal finance and budgeting application that allows users to track spending, set budgets, establish savings goals, and monitor financial health. The App offers the following plans:

Free Plan: Local-only budgeting with basic features. Sign in with Apple is required; no payment information is collected.
Plus Plan: Full-featured individual budgeting with recurring payments and optional cloud sync (off by default) for backup and web-dashboard access. Subscription required.
Family Plan: All Plus features plus shared budgets and a web-based parent console for up to 6 members. Cloud sync for your personal data remains opt-in; shared budgets are inherently cloud-based because multiple devices must see the same numbers. Subscription required.

Features are subject to change. We will notify users of material changes through the App or our website.

3. Subscriptions and Billing

3.1 Free Plan

The Free plan is available at no cost. Sign in with Apple is required to use the App, but no payment information is collected. The Free plan includes basic budgeting features as described on our pricing page.

3.2 Paid Plans

Plus and Family subscriptions are billed on a monthly or annual basis through the Apple App Store. All billing is handled by Apple and subject to Apple's payment terms. We do not store your payment information.

Subscription fees are charged at the start of each billing cycle. You authorize us (through Apple) to charge your payment method on a recurring basis until you cancel.

3.3 Free Trial

We may offer a free trial period for paid plans. If a trial is offered, you will not be charged until the trial period ends. You may cancel at any time before the trial ends to avoid charges.

3.4 Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time through your Apple ID account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. We do not offer refunds for partial billing periods, except where required by law.

3.5 Price Changes

We reserve the right to change subscription prices. We will provide at least 30 days notice of any price increase. Continued use of the App after a price change constitutes acceptance of the new pricing.

4. User Responsibilities

You agree to use Clarius Money only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree not to:

Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract the source code of the App
Use the App to store or process data belonging to others without authorization
Circumvent any security features or access controls
Use the App in any way that could damage, disable, or impair our systems
Misrepresent your identity or affiliation when using Family plan features

5. Financial Information Disclaimer

Clarius Money is a budgeting and personal finance tracking tool. It is not a financial advisor, investment advisor, tax advisor, or licensed financial planner.

Nothing in the App constitutes financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. Any tips, progress indicators, and recommendations provided by the App are for informational and motivational purposes only. You should consult a qualified financial professional before making any significant financial decisions.

We are not responsible for any financial decisions you make based on information provided by the App.

6. Intellectual Property

All content in the App and on the Site — including but not limited to the Clarius name and logo, app design, UI elements, copy, and underlying code — is owned by Clarius Finance Labs LLC and protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App for your personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or sublicense any part of the App without our prior written consent.

7. Privacy

Your use of Clarius Money is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. Please review our Privacy Policy to understand our practices.

8. Data and Backups

By default, your budgeting data is stored locally on your device. On the Plus and Family plans you may opt in to cloud sync from Settings, in which case the data described in our Privacy Policy is uploaded to our servers and acts as a backup. Shared budgets and shared goals on the Family plan are always cloud-stored because multiple devices need to see the same numbers.

We are not responsible for any loss of data stored only on your device. If cloud sync is turned off, it is your responsibility to maintain your own backups (for example, by enabling iCloud backups for your device).

For synced data, we maintain reasonable backups of our production database, but do not guarantee against data loss in the event of technical failure.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Clarius Finance Labs LLC and its members, officers, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, or financial loss arising from your use of the App.

Our total liability to you for any claims arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $50, whichever is greater.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components.

We do not warrant the accuracy, completeness, or usefulness of any information provided through the App, including tips, progress indicators, or budget recommendations.

11. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Harris County, Texas.

You agree to attempt to resolve any dispute informally by contacting us first at support@clariusmoney.com before initiating formal legal proceedings.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting a notice in the App or on our website at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the App after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you must stop using the App and cancel any active subscriptions.

13. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the App at our discretion if you violate these Terms. You may stop using the App at any time by deleting it from your device and canceling any active subscriptions.

Upon termination, your right to use the App ceases immediately. Any synced data is then handled according to the retention timelines described in our Privacy Policy (Section 5).
